Freer gallery is closed until 2017, but don't miss the lovely small Sackler gallery next door! The Sackler entrance is in the garden behind the Smithsonian castle. The museum is free and has excellent, small exhibits. Helpful and friendly docents. Beautiful architecture. You can connect inside to the African Art museum from the -1st and -3rd floors (underground), useful on a rainy or hot day.
