After breakfast at the hotel, visit the sites of Asmara, well known as Piccola Roma (Little
Rome).sites of interest may include; an exquisite collection of the 1920s and the Italian
architectural designs. Some of the Italian architectural buildings are the Catholic cathedral, the former Governor’s palace which was built in 1897 and is a regular retreat for Emperor Haile Selassie, Enda Mariam Orthodox cathedral, St Mary Coptic church, the National Museum and the Al Khulafa al Rashedin market. Also, take a visit to the monument dedicated to Alexander Pushkin; one of the greatest Russians poet. There will be time to sit down and enjoy a cappuccino (iced or hot) at one of the many outdoor cafes as well. Dinner and overnight at Crystal hotel.

Former Eritrean Railway Keren Station
Head north through the highlands past steep terraces of coffee and orange groves to Keren. The
region is set on a plateau at 1392m surrounded by dusty ochre mountains making it an attractive
town. It is also the Centre of Eritrea’s agricultural community, capital, and administrative center
of Anseba region. The city is located ten miles from Asmara thus a trading center and a natural cross lands to many languages and ethnic groups. You will come across the camel caravans,Turkish styles mosques, and the Eritreans dressed in turbans and caftans reminiscent of the Middle East. There is also a camel wood market that attracts people to the city. Dinner and

Keren War Cemetery
Stroll around Keren concentrating on the historical and the architectural areas of the town. Visit the prominent shrine dedicated to St Mary of Da’arit well known as Mariam Da’arit. It is located at the large Baobab cave, which was inaugurated by the fifth Vicar Apostolic Monsignor Touvier in July 1881. Also, take a view of the massive military engagements between the British and the Italians during the Second World War. The sites are more rewarding and worthwhile more so Italian cemetery with its beautiful marked gravestones of the perennial bougainvillea.

Mosque of the Companions
Drive to the city of Massawa via the Filfil, home of the last remnants of Eritrea’s tropical forest.The area is well known for its bird watching opportunity. Rainforest is also part of the vast region known as the Semenawil- Bahir, hilly region that slopes down to the coastal plains. There are many rare species of flora, fauna, and the snaking road recently built through the region’s mountains in 2005 afford a view of breathtaking scenery. Dinner and overnight at Helen hotel.
