Discover the American memorials (Escadrille Lafayette and the Suresnes American cemetery) and the Mont Valérien memorial to the French fighting forces. A guided tour of one of the 2 American memorials is also available. The E.Trott will take you on a half-day tour of cycle paths, small streets and forest tracks (approx. 18 miles). Memorial de L'Escadrille La Fayette "Time will not tarnish the glory of their deeds" General John Pershing. Discover the history of this Memorial which celebrates the memory of the American volunteer pilots who gave their lives during the First World War, under French uniform, before the United States entered the war. Indeed, the Escadrille La Fayette was created on April 20, 1916, a year before the U.S. Congress declared war on April 6, 1917. At the end of a forest path, you will discover this memorial located on the heights of Versailles. It was erected as a tribute to the American army that fought in the First World War and to the army of the American War of Independence. 2 great men face each other : General Pershing and General Lafayette.

Le Mont-Valerien French Memorial to Resistance Martyrs "Whatever happens, the flame of resistance will not be extinguished". June 18, 1940 Charles DE GAULLE " The monument's esplanade covers more than 1,000 m2. A 150-metre-long wall2 of pink Vosges sandstone adjoins the fortress's millstone ramparts. In the middle of this wall stands a large Lorraine cross, 12 m high.
