Royal Tombs The Royal Tombs have been the resting place of the royals since 1893. The statue-studded white concrete tomb complex is off limits to the public, but you can peer across the lawns from the perimeter fence.

Ha'atafu Beach Ha’atafu Beach. On 15 January 2022, the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai underwater volcano erupted, triggering a devastating tsunami and blanketing many of Tonga’s islands in a thick layer of volcanic ash. Tragically, three lives were lost because of the tsunami, including two Tongan nationals and a British national. Ha’atafu beach shows the devastation of the Tsunami to the beach resorts. The guide can tell you first-hand stories of the events that took place. You can see the devastated beach resorts and take some photos.

Tongatapu Island Tsunami rock Science says, this huge Coral boulder was thrown inland thousands of years ago by a prehistoric Tsunami. Local legend say's the Demi God Maui threw the giant rock down to kill an annoying Rooster. Tongan Roosters crow all day and night so the Maui theary does have merit!

Mapu'a 'a Vaea Blowholes See the most spectacular blowholes! Here you'll find not one blowhole, but hundreds of them along this three mile stretch of wild windswept coastline. Watch from the safety of the viewing platform. This is also a great spot to enjoy your tasty packed lunch as you enjoy Mother Nature showing off her mighty power.

3 Headed Coconut Not just another Coconut tree, this one has 3 heads and is apparently the only one in the world! Stop here for a quick photo!

Captain Cook's Landing Place A small monument marks the spot where Captain Cook first landed back in 1777. He dubbed Tonga the "Friendly Islands" because of the warm welcome he received from the locals, however he did not know they actually had a plot to kill him!

Tongatapu Island Fishing Pigs* When the tide is out, these unusual porkers trot out into the shallows and snuffle around in search of seafood. Not something you see every day! Of course we can't guarantee you will see the Pigs fishing, it all depends on the tide & the pigs!

Ha'amonga'a Maui Trilithon Lastly we will stop off for a visit to the Ha’amonga, Known as the Stonehenge of the south pacific the mysterious Ha'amonga was erected in 1200AD. It consists of two upright coral stones about 5m high, topped by a horizontal connecting stone 6m long and has 3 paths that lead to the beach. When the sunrises in the middle path the day is equal. If it rises on the left path, it’s the shortest day of the year and the right path is the longest day of the year.

Ancient Royal Tombs of Lapaha The tombs are stone vaults, "platforms of earth with a stepped pyramid effect supported by carefully placed retaining walls". The earliest tombs have been tentatively dated back to the mid-thirteenth century.
