Itinerary

PARO (1 hour flight by Druk Air), drive 54km (2 hours) to Thimphu

Paro Transfer to airport and fly to Paro. A spectacular descent through mountainous valleys brings you into the Kingdom of Bhutan. In Paro you will be received by your Bhutanese guide and after clearing customs and visa control you are transferred to your hotel. A short picturesque drive of about 2 hours along the valley brings you to the capital of Bhutan, Thimpu. After lunch at a local restaurant, start your sightseeing, visiting the Textile Museum, a traditional paper making factory and the Post office to see Bhutan’s beautiful stamps which also depicts about the country’s myths, traditions etc. Alternatively you can do less formal sightseeing and walk around the town with your guide. Stay overnight at Hotel. Meals: Lunch, Welcome Dinner

THIMPU – TAKTSANG – PARO

Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong) In the morning drive to Satsam Chorten and then hike to Takstang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery which is built around a cave in which Guru Rimpoche (also known as Guru Padmasambhava) meditated. The legend has it that Guru Rimpoche is said to have flown to the site of the monastery on the back of a tigress from Tibet and meditated in the cave there for three months.The monastery has been rebuilt after a disastrous fire destroyed in April 1998. The monastery can only be viewed from afar as it is not open to the public. The view is however worth the steep 1.5 hour walk up a wide mountain path. After lunch we visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temple in Bhutan. Over night at Hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Farewell Dinner
