Train to the Clouds Our round trip tour is a blend of bus and rail experiences on the way to San Antonio de los Cobres village, and allows insertion and sustainability of local indigenous communities in our actions, while we work as a link between them and the general visitors. Bus & Train Option The journey starts in the city of Salta at 7am departing on buses heading west following the old drover 'Toro Trail', which will allow travelers a closer view to the attractions of this colorful canyon and a different perception of the traditional railway system. On the way our tour guides promote photo stops in several railway viewpoints until you arrive in 'Alfacito'. This is a small picturesque hamlet where visitors are invited to an outdoor breakfast in an immersion experience in the cosmogony of local inhabitants.Going on the journey through this magical Andean region travelers get in direct contact with indigenous populations that succeeded in surviving in high plateaus in the upper Andes. Our adventure on the Train to the Clouds will start from 'San Antonio de los Cobres'. The train journey goes through landmarks like 'Termas de Pompeya', 'Toconadito', and' Mina Concordia' in order to reach the rail network's last stop: The famous 'Polvorilla' Viaduct. Back in 'San Antonio de los Cobres' tourists may interact and discover social nuances that are materialized in activities such as participating in ceramic workshops, handicraft market, and short lama caravan walks among others (not included). For the return we take the buses back through the national road 51, which suggests a stopover at 'Santa Rosa de Tastil', part of the 'Q’ Pac Ñam' (Inca trail), declared by Unesco Cultural World inheritance in 2014. Train Option only: This option includes only the Train to the Clouds ride from 'San Antonio de los Cobres' to the 'Polvorilla' Viaduct and back.
