Coral Castle

Coral Castle is an oolite limestone structure created by the Latvian American eccentric Edward Leedskalnin located in Leisure City, Florida.The structure comprises numerous megalithic stones (mostly limestone formed from coral), each weighing severaltons.It is currently a privately operated tourist attraction. Coral Castle is noted for legends surrounding its creation that claim it was built single-handedly by Leedskalnin using reverse magnetism or supernatural abilities to move and carve numerous stones weighing many tons.



The grounds of Coral Castle consist of 1,100 short tons (1,000t) of stones in the form of walls, carvings, furniture and a castle tower. Commonly believed to be made of coral, it is made of oolite, also known as oolitic limestone.

It's interesting, but really just another tourist attraction looking to get a little of your money. I'm going to spoil it for you - there were no aliens involved and there's no question about how he did it. It was a man who worked hard using simple machines common at the time to build a very interesting artistic piece.

Very cool place. It's not a castle which I didn't realize until I arrived. But it's way more interesting. The story of its creator and the mystery of how he built the structure with no help from other people is fascinating and spooky. Put your science hat on before coming and enjoy a fun, atypical day in South Miami. PS, the main theory of how he built this with magnets. I researched this more after leaving coral castle and learned that the bullet trains run via magnetic propulsion... very cool connection and made me appreciate the builder/creator even more.
