I love this place, it has a beautiful view of Manhattan from across the river and the Statue of Liberty. Make sure to catch the view from multiple locations at the park. Very cool.

It's outside of New York city just by about 20 minutes. It has several walking trails and a nice well lit trail on the water with a great view of lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge and Ellis Island. The only downside if there is one is that you are looking at the back of Lady liberty. In which you would them take the Ferry to go to the island and see the front side. This is a great way to spend a nice relaxing hour or two seeing the sites.

Great park to go to, huge playground for the kids and plenty of wheelchair/stroller accessible paths. You won't find rocky trails or any difficult trail there, but the scenery is breathtaking, with astonishing views of downtown Manhattan, Lady Liberty and Ellis Island. Liberty State Park is also the most convenient ferry to Liberty Island.
