Decent exhibits, poor crowd control. I'll admit, the day after Christmas is probably a bad sample. The place was crazy busy, the line for the tram tours was hours long, and every tram stop was overwhelmed. The poor staff just couldn't keep up. The tram tour is a little weird, and if it wasn't free it wouldn't be worth doing. The way they were running it today was strange, one pair of trams was bringing people to the first stop, where you waited in line again to get on another tram deeper into the Johnson center. There maybe 6 trams were running a loop between the four stops. Lots of waiting in poorly sheltered areas and unnecessary confusion. The four tram stops, for reference, are the rocket park, the Orion mission control, the Apollo mission control, and the training center. The rocket park has one of 3 remaining Saturn Vs, which is awesome, but otherwise the collection is just two other sad, rotting rockets. The Orion control is a bit boring when no one's there; the Apollo control isn't set up to resemble it's original layout, so it's disappointing; and the training center has some interesting mock ups, but it's hard to see anything. The historical spacecraft display was well designed but poorly lit. The Independence display, however, was well put together, and really unique. Almost made up for the other disappointments. Overall- on a quiet day it's a fun place to visit, but on busy days stay away.
