My adult children flew into LAX and after exploring LA for awhile we wanted to experience a bar in Silverlake and found Akbar. It is small, but cozy. Draft Beer was $3 (happy hour) and all the nibblies we could eat. The jukebox was free with a huge music selection. We will be back.

Great bar to hang out and meet up with friends. The bartenders are extremely welcoming. Drinks and inexpensive and quite tasty. Occasionally, you might meet a celebrity or two. This place is definitely worth your while.

So much fun! Stumbled in here by accident one day after a stroll through Piedmont Park.There was quite a crowd, but I was able to find a seat at the corner of the bar. The music was good, and the bartender immediately came over with a menu. I had the sliders, which were an excellent choice.I recommend. I decided to stay for the drag show that happens on Sunday nights. It was totally worth it!

Akbar is alright. They sometimes have weird shows where you can see local performance artists. Not my favorite place, but I don't think I'm their target patron anyway. It's a good place to go if you're a gay man looking for a laid back kind of bar.
