San Antonio Zoo

The 35-acre zoo has a collection of over 3,500 animals representing 750 species. The zoo's annual attendance exceeds 1,000,000. It also runs non-animal attractions, such as the 2 ft narrow gauge San Antonio Zoo Eagle train ride, which utilizes three Chance Rides C.P. Huntington locomotives.

The zoo is involved in breeding a number of endangered species including black rhino, leopard, golden lion tamarin, dama gazelle, Attwater's prairie chicken, black mangabey, African lion, black-footed ferret, Komodo dragon, Andean condor, and Caribbean flamingos.

The zoo's bird collection is now one of the world's largest.

No grizzly bear. Was hoping to see grizzly bears but they do not have any. All in all, good zoo with free parking. Usually can find a coupon or groupon. If you live close or plan to visit more than 2 times, I would suggest the membership.

Love the renovations done in the past years. Carousel and large cafeteria were great additions. Only not 5 stars because restroom facilities desperately need updating and more regular cleaning. Very difficult to bring kids into any restroom other than the ones within the new construction without wanting to be covered in plastic.
