Quiet, quaint, and the least well-known of the Little Tokyo neighborhood temples probably because it lies tucked between touristy storefronts on 1st St. Koyasan is part of the richly historical Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. It's a sect so old legend has it that Lady Murasaki was first inspired to write The Tale of Genji while on a retreat at a Shingon Buddhist temple.
