Food is great. Never a miss. Everything about this restaurant, it's ownership, cooks, chef, and the neighborly/community feel of it is awesome. The service staff is just really doing the place an injustice. Replace them, and you have a perfect restaurant.

This was our favorite restaurant during our week in SF. Fantastically prepared fresh fish and shrimp risotto. The duck and lamb earned top ratings from those in our family that weren't in the mood for seafood. A small, quiet place off the beaten touristy path, but just around the corner from the famous Painted Lady houses. The waitress took great care of us and brought complimentary warm chocolate cake for desert. She even overheard us say that my son couldn't eat the cake due to allergies and quickly brought him some ice cream. Next time we come back to SF we will go out of our way to eat here again.

The special fish dish was very nice, and it comes with rice and vegetables. The vegetable pasta sauce was a kind of tomato based cream sauce. My favourite is the warm baguette. Good comfort food!
