Terrible airport and service. The American Airlines representative did not put my bag on the plane when I was there over an hour before boarding. Now they can not locate my luggage. Avoid this airport if possible.
The TSA and American Airlines workers at TVC airport are inefficient and don't have accountability for the job they perform. Even as I write this, I am not able to get a number or email of anyone to complain to at the airport. We have used this airport for 8 years and have had NUMEROUS difficulties departing on flights. An incident on July 19th is so outrageous that I am forced to tell anyone I know about it in the hopes that the TSA agents in Traverse City will have to be held accountable for the things they do there. My daughter was detained because she had a temporary license and photo id and her purse had the "scent" of coca cola. The searched all of her things, swabbed items in her purse, and did a body search. None of these came up positive, and eventually they told her she was fine to go. And, that they probably wouldn't have a problem in another airport as the "scent had dissappeared". In the meantime, her father was waiting for her to go thru security.
The American Airlines rep told him to get on the plane and she would take care of his daughter. He stated he wouldn't leave without her. She promptly gave away their seats to standby. Then TSA cleared my daughter as safe to fly. The dangerous scent of 'coca color" was cleared.
They waited nearly 24 hours for another flight to Chicago because American Airlines would not make any reparations for them. They said they didn't make the gate and so if they wanted a guaranteed flight it would be 1500 dollars to guarantee that. Then they spent another 12 hours in Chicago trying to get to NYC. Why would you stay there you say? They had 2000 non refundable reservations. No one at American Airlines or TSA or Traverse City Airport did anything to help fix the mess created. I will not let my family fly out of Traverse City in the summertime again. Friends don't let friend fly TVC in the summertime.
