The memorial is beautiful during my last trip there it felt like such a privilege to witness history can't wait to go back!

We only discovered the Soviet War memorial whilst watching a documentary on Berlin and added it to our itinerary. This memorial does not seem to be high on the tourist list which adds to it's attraction and definitely a place to visit if you need a break from crowds. It's architecture is in stark contrast to the other monuments in Berlin and feels almost zen-like in its simplicity and design. We went in winter and the starkness of the trees added to the overall impression. It was interesting to learn that as part of the unification of Germany the German government undertook to restore and maintain soviet memorials as a symbol of the partnership. I would have liked an English translation of the quotes by Stalin which are on the stone sarcophagi around the memorial
