We grabbed a bite here at Phil's since we had time to kill before our flight home. We ordered a baby back rib tickler and a chicken breast sandwich. The tickler came with three bones, cornbread, fries, coleslaw, and two large onion rings. I personally find coleslaw to be a form of punishment, so I was grateful when the cashier gave me the option of substituting for more fries, cornbread, or onion rings. The chicken came with two sides. The pricing was a bit higher than what was listed at their standalone restaurant, but that's to be expected at the airport. The chicken sandwiches take 15 minutes to prepare, so that's something to keep in mind if you're in a rush at the airport. We were given an electronic buzzer to alert us when our order was ready. Time flew while we people watched in the airport so it seemed our food was ready in no time. The portion sizes were huge, and were way more than I could ever consume before getting on a flight. We both enjoyed the flavor of the meats, but the sides were lackluster. The fries had little to no seasoning and we threw the baked beans away after each taking one bite. The line was long and the restaurant seemed popular so we had high hopes but we ended up with just a mediocre meal.

I'm from Northern Cali and we don't have places like this there. We were driving by and decided to stop. We went in and we where seated right away. It was 4 of us and we all ordered different dinner plates. Needless to say we all let full and happy. This place is great food was awesome. Employees are very friendly. It's a family friendly restaurant as well . Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!

Delicious and juicy BBQ!! A partly self-serve restaurant with efficient service, you order and get it yourself like in a fast food joint but there was a staff attending the area of our table that was very helpful and attentive of all our needs. Make time to visit while in San Diego but expect to wait line because it's so good.

A very well organized facility and was able to seat 40-plus people with a half hours notice. Great food and a lot of room for big parties I could not believe that we are all able to sit together on such short notice. Well done Phil's BBQ.

I've been coming here for a while. Good selection of beers on tap and great BBQ. The baby back ribs and beef ribs are to die for. Great customer service too.

Placed a phone order for pick up. When i arrived two other people had placed their to-go orders and then I paid for my phone order. I waited and waited. Those two other walk in customers before my phone order received their food, left and I was still waiting. So from experience, if you are looking to order ahead to save some time, dont even bother.

This is the best BBQ in San Diego if you ask me, the lines can get crazy but the food is very good. Prices are average for a barbecue joint, but their beef ribs and pulled pork are great. They have various types of fanta on tap, and the atmosphere is fun. Staff is friendly and helpful.

As always their beef ribs were delicious. Second time we have gotten them with sauce on the side. We first did it to save some sugar calories and realized they were really good and it wasn't all about the sauce! Tried the coleslaw for the first time and it was good!

Ate here before my flight, got the BBQ broham sandwich. Ordered it with potato salad and slaw. Got slaw and pasta salad. And a VERY dry sandwich. The meat tasted plain and burnt. No sauce and the bread was stale. Not happy with how it turned out. If I'm going to pay that much for food, I'd expect atleast the right items I ordered. Will go to another establishment for food next time.

This is a great place to stop if you want decent portions for a reasonable price. The BBQ is good, not fantastic, however enjoyable enough to earn a solid 4 stars for value. Staff here seem decent too and the location is convenient with relatively quick service.

The BBQ is decent. But, you know what irritates me the most? Is when you call ahead to order to go food & still have to wait 10 minutes in the to go to the register to pay for your food & wait another 15 minutes to get your food, while people who order food for dine in get there’s in less than 5 minutes. They have got to get a better system for take out orders, especially for those that call ahead. What’s the point of allowing your customers to call ahead if your food isn’t going to be ready when you arrive?

Generous portions, great service, spacious and delicious. We warmly greeted and checked on several times offering more sauce or to-go containers if we wanted. Clean restrooms. Music was too loud for comfortable conversation. Lots of TV's turned to sports. Sauce was not too sweet or overly spicy.

Phil's BBQ is typically a great experience, but each and every time, the counter service let's me down. There were 4-5 employees behind the counter trying to figure out what's going on while guests pile up at the varying lanes to be helped. I was greeted and called over to the cash register by an employee who was waving her call paddle frantically and looked/sounded upset while taking my order. After getting my buzzer to dine in, the experience is 5 stars. Attendants are always circling the seating area asking if anything is needed. Love the food, dislike the counter service.

Amazing food and service. The bartender, Jillian ,is on top of her game. If your a repeat customer she will remember you. Highly recommend the boneless ribs. May just be my all time favorite airport restaurant/bar.

Decent BBQ and sides--I've tasted better at a hole-in-the-wall that didn't survive The Great Recession so for now this is our family go-to for American-style BBQ until we discover another. And I've tasted far worse in a San Diego chain, so I know when BBQ can be poorly mass produced. Service is excellent, plenty of seating and the ordering line is well organized. The portions are HUGE so good place to feed a hungry crowd like when your out-of-town family visits or for your kid's athletic team. No one's going hungry afterward.

The staff here are always hit or miss. My order taker was not overly nice and the person that you pick up your food from as well. But the bus boy very nice and helpful. If not for him I'd base my stars off the food. Food is good but wish they had more side choices. Not sure it's worth the expense.

Food was very good with a very pleasant staff. I ordered a Cali burrito but it came with very little guacamole and cheese and no BBQ sauce. I noticed others having to go back to the counter for sauce as well. Still, a very tasty burrito.
