fairly disgusted with this establishment. my boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and heard rave reviews about the omakase option and wanted to splurge. we sat at the counter to enjoy the preparation and are very glad we did. the young gentleman helping the main chef was seen standing there looking bored and CLEANING HIS NAILS / CUTTING HIS CUTICLE with the knife. he looked up and noticed that my bf and I were looking at him and immediately stopped. he made no attempt to clean the knife or change it out. We’re thankful we saw this before we were served any food. We told the waiter what we saw and that we wanted to leave. He said he would take care of it but at this point we both lost our appetite and excused ourselves from the restaurant. if you DO decide to go here, sit at the bar and make sure the chefs behind the counter are not using their cutlery to give themselves a manicure. a negative star rating would be too kind.

Well this is a little overdue. Was super thrilled to be able to get to eat here for diner on a trip. Hands down this omakase is amazing. Everything was delicious. Wish we had one in Chicago.

As of 10/2017, this is the best sushi I have had in the USA. I tried the omakase, which is an excellent value for its price, and this is coming from a guy who can make an all you can eat sushi restaurant lose money. The Toro and Uni were outstanding and I still think about them today. The space is small and intimate, perfect for dates or small groups. Wait staff and sushi bar chefs were all excited for me to try their food and were not at all overbearing. The chefs certainty showed pride in their work, and I really reaped the benefits. So make a reservation and get going!

Other than the smell of this place, it was great! I was immediately disturbed by the odor which I was told by our waiter was the smell of sushi... I'm familiar with the smell of sushi and that it was not. The hostess then explained that a neighboring space sometimes gives off an odor that wafts in. Had it not been for her answer, we would have left.
