If you have been to Brownsville in TX I would say it's the CAD version of that. Small and very easy to navigate.
Security can be hit and miss. I think a large part of this is because, it being so small, they only have limited staff and if someone is on a break it can be slow. There are only a few lines and not all are always open. However, I have been in situations where multiple flights were scheduled close to one another and they had everyone go through in order of which flight was leaving first (i.e. came out and had us re-shuffle the lineups based on flight) - which is actually quite efficient and surprisingly organized for Saskatchewan... to be honest. (This is my home airport, just being honest.)
The lounge and food situation has gotten much better over the last year or two. I travel relatively often, more than a typical consumer but no more than once a month. Outlets are nice, Wi-Fi is nice. It's a small airport so you can't expect a thousand ammenities. As far as Canadian airports go, I have much less stress travelling YQR than Calgary by far.
