There isn't a ton of stuff to see here, so just know that 2 hours is about all the time you'll want to allot. However, it is fun for both adults and kids. Several of the exhibits, like the submarine hunting airplane, have tours guided by former crewmen. Be warned this is an active airbase and you will have to have a background check that takes a few minutes. They won't do this check during shift changes, so call ahead to find out the best time to show up so you aren't wanting an hour to get on the base. If you are foreign national, the process will take longer, so plan ahead. Yes, Canadians are considered foreign nationals.

Had a fantastic afternoon there with my son. Inside you'll find historical period uniforms, equipment, interesting narratives, flight simulators, and everything you might expect from a military air base museum. Outside is displayed a wide array of prop planes and jets and access is allowed inside the larger planes with a "tour guide" to help answer your questions. A must-see attraction for the east/north side without having to travel way out to Willow Run. Appeals to all ages. All in all, a wonderfully spent afternoon!

The Museum is open Sat-Sun 12-4 from April through October, with admission $4 for adults, less for kids. Approximately 27 airplanes that have served at Selfridge are on display outdoors, from a WWI Spad biplane, to an F-14 Tomcat, and extensive displays indoors. To visit, tell the guard at the front gate you are coming to the museum, and you will be issued a day pass, upon showing your driver's license, registration, and insurance card. The museum is staffed by volunteers, and supported by admission fees, and receives no government funds, so we will be happy to see you. (I'm a volunteer)
