Really nice place to quietly walk and observe. We visit each time we are in Ft. Myers...sometimes two or three times during our once a year visit. Early mornings are the best time to go.

Beautiful place that you should go enjoy the feeling of being emersed in nature. Best times to see animals are in the early morning and near dusk. I would also recommend a guided walk.

The Slough Preserve is across the street from my work and I take lunchtime walks there every day. It is amazing! I've seen gators, turtles, an otter and an amazing array of birds. It is one of the most serene places I have ever had the pleasure to be and I get to experience it daily!! The only cost is to park; a dollar per hour. For the natural ambiance, this seriously cannot be beat:) Check out the pic below of a Giant Blue Heron I saw last week...

Very unique park. Nothing like this where I am from. Would definitely go back. $5 parking for all day or a dollar an hour (as of OCT 16). Can use credit card machine and it prints a slip you put on your car's dashboard. Similar to beach parking in Florida. ENJOY!

Well maintained boardwalk, frequent animal sightings, and a great family adventure for very little cost. Admission is only $1/hour per vehicle, or $5/day. Several scenic overlooks offer great photo opportunities, buy keep your eyes open everywhere! Squirrels are brave enough to, at times, walk up to within a foot of anyone they think might have food (please don't actually feed them). Little painted paw prints give children something fun to discover and, at their end, a little box to open that describes the animal whose prints they just followed. We've seen wild boars, snakes, turtles, a variety of fish and birds, even baby alligators. Otters too! It's a fun place for nature lovers of all ages, and the boardwalk is very easy for the infirm to navigate. Being your camera, you never know what you might see.
