PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GREEDY AND ELDER-ABUSING RESTAURANT. I have waited a long time to write this review because I did not want the vitriolic owner Hannan to further abuse my grandfather and take it out on him. My grandfather has been going to this restaurant for years and started to develop dementia to the point that he would go here 3,4,5 times a day because he could not remember that he had gone. This was the most convenient place for him. I wish I could report her for elder abuse because she has repeatedly over-charged him every time he goes in because he was unaware of what things cost and that he had already been in. We have explained the situation to her numerous times and asked her kindly to please just offer him something off the menu and to not keep offering her "special" which she would charge an OBSCENE amount for because she could. Of course, she refused and continued to take advantage of him. Even worse, she was mean and nasty in response to that request as I'm sure other people who have written reviews have witnessed. I would also like to add that when we as a family would go out there and go with him, we would point out the discrepancies when she would over-charge him even with us there! She would again become mean, nasty, and defensive, claiming she would never take advantage of him even though the bill was outrageous and would begrudgingly adjust the price and give us the cold shoulder for the remainder of our visit. Sadly, there was nothing we could do because we live in a different state so she knew she could do whatever she pleases and continued to do so. Fortunately, we have been able to move him closer to home for high quality care. I'm not sure what kind of sick person is that selfish and so greedy that would do that to an elder who clearly and obviously suffers from dementia. I hope that those of you who read this take their business elsewhere. If you continue to go, I have some words of advice for you: ask for the price up front and don't get the special because it's old food she is trying to get rid of. Trust me, my grandfather had some rough days due to the poor quality and standard of her food.

Avoid this establishment!!! We have lived in the Cays for years and unfortunately Calypso Cafe is the only thing nearby. We have gone there from time to time with hopes it would be a decent cafe for a quick bite. The food reminds me of leftovers and I can only imagine their special is simply what they are trying to sell before it expires or spoils to the point of notice. The food is not special and the owner always tries to push her recommendation on you, which is always the most overpriced meal and tastes the worst. Enough with the quality of the food. The owner is inconsistent at best with her pricing as I have seen her charge someone $5 for a coffee and breakfast sandwich. Nothing on the menu is even $5. While we are overcharged for a ham slice. Customer service is not a strong suit of hers as one complaint puts her on the defense, when she should be tending to the need of her customer. It is shame that she has somehow cornered the cafe market in the Cays, I believe that is the only reason she has not gone belly up. If one halfway decent establishment opens up next door she would surely lose the business. Fingers crossed.
