Beautiful, small and fast airport. I live in London and as a guy in a long distance relationship with someone from Wilmington, ILM is the place of my highest happinesses and my deepest sorrows. The building is beautiful and baggage collection/security is generally pretty fast. The people who work there are nice and communicative, although I encountered one rather rude man at the check-in desk on my last journey out. There's a nice little cafe area which overlooks the runway which is especially nice. One small issue lays with the flight update monitors. They can be somewhat unclear about what time the plane departs, especially if there is a delay or cancellation. I ended up going through security only to arrive straight at my gate, where my flight was cancelled. The whole process of saying goodbye to my loved one would have been made far easier if I didn't have to go all the way through security. That is only a small blip though. Overall the airport is fantastic. For someone who has to do a minimum of two plane journeys each way, flying to and from Wilmington ILM really doesn't feel like the chore that air travel can often be.

Easy to check in and back out. Pay parking is fair priced. Vehicles are checked daily. They give a report if you want of any checks. Don't have to be there 4 hours in advance. Family friendly. Nicely paced environment. Loved it.
