Xintiandi is an affluent shopping, eating, and entertainment area in central Shanghai’s Huangpu district. Centered on a redevelopment of traditional Shanghai Shinkumen structures, the area is popular with tourists and wealthy Shanghainese. Numerous up-scale stores and cafes line the streets, making Xintiandi a great spot for a stroll. Historical buildings intersperse the area including the original meeting hall used by the Communist Party of China and the seat of the Korean government in exile during World War II. Lovely at any time, Xintiandi is quite worth a visit and for the glimpse it provides into contemporary Shanghai.
