A fun little hidden gem in Chicago. I highly recommend going and looking at the scale model of Chicago, even if you are a resident. Their gift shop is nice albeit a bit pricey. Their kids workshop is fun. It is closed at weird hours.

Take the Chicago Architecture Tour and see Chicago from the perspective of the Chicago River. The tour guides are excellent. They have in depth descriptions of the magnificent architecture that can be seen on a slow cruise of the river. It's compelling and inspiring to see how great architecture shapes a city.
