We recently stopped by Penetros Bakery & Restaurant while we were looking for lunch in the neighborhood. We actually have passed by it a few times in the past but never stopped in to have a meal. Well, on this day we decided to go try it out... As soon as you walk in you're greeted by two nice ladies who serve the food, coffee, and pastries. They have a nice set up, a few tables on the left side and all the food & goodies on the right side. So, we went straight for the food because we were hungry for lunch. They have a nice a la carte set up featuring several home cooked foods, nice and warm, ready to order. We had the Sofado, sopa de res, arroz con frijoles, and two cafe con leches afterwards. Everything was extremely delicious and very fresh. Bet of all, the whole thing costed us $9... In a world of rising prices and constant inflation, it's nice to know that these little gems still exist in and around East Elmhurst. Suffice to say that we will definitely be back again in the future!
