Great beach with good food nearby lots of wind surfers and an OK surfing spot at the point, good for snorkeling too

Leadbetter is a classic SB tourist destination, although locals like it, too. It's a great place to learn to surf as the waves are often gentle and water is shallow with a mostly sand bottom. The healthy kelp beds mean a lot of debris on the beach most of the time, and it can get crowded when the weather is nice. Great place to watch the weekly sailboat racing (Wet Wednesdays, 4-7 pm from March to October).

Leadbetter Beach is a Santa Barbara beach close to the Mesa. It begins below Shoreline Park and ends at the harbor. Pros There is generally plenty for parking (some of it paid). There are bathrooms. There are both foot and regular showers. The parking is close to the beach and it is easy to get stuff onto the beach. It is close to Shoreline Park. Waves are gentle and water is shallow. Cons In the summer/fall 2016, SBCC students are parking in the beach area with their permits, making it very hard to find parking. This is a very popular beach especially in the summer and on weekends. It can be very crowded.
