Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park, California

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is the last in a long string of redwood parks that stretch up Northern California's coast. A few miles inland from the ocean, the park is densely forested with huge ancient trees. In fact, it contains seven percent of all the old-growth redwoods left in the world. No roads or trails mark "Jed Smith's" core—just pure, primeval majesty.

Stayed in one of the cabins over Christmas. They were spacious, clean, and nice. Once the heater got warmed up, it kept the cabin nice and toasty. The front half has a countertop in one side and a sitting area (brought our own camp chairs) on the other. The back half has two full beds with single lifts above each and a small nook for changing clothes. The bathrooms at the campground are clean and heated. Showers are coin operated. The park itself is lovely, especially with the river so close. While it is conveniently located to nearby town amenities, we did have to drive 30-45 minutes (one-way with construction) So the could hike in the national park.

Absolutely loved this campground. It was gorgeous, clean, and has the most unbelievable, clear river within walking distance of each sight.
