Enshi Tusi City (the Tusi were hereditary tribal leaders recognized as officials in imperial China) celebrates the Tujia indigenous culture and includes attractions like a gate tower, a Dong nationality wind and rain bridge, the “chieftain's temple,” drill grounds, Tujia residences, the Tusi Castle, and more. The towering city gate, recreated ancient-style bridge pavilion, temple to Tujia ancestral chiefs, exquisite murals and carvings, and Tujia houses on stilts all show the ancient and rich folk tradition of the Tujia people, making this a great place to learn about their history and culture.
