The Nelson Monument is worth the climb. It affords a spectacular view of the city and surrounding countryside. And if you don't know who Admiral Nelson was, then this is the perfect opportunity to bush up on you 19th century history. I would even recommend reading Sharpe's Trafalgar, an excellent historical fiction book by Bernard Cornwell.
