I am old enough to remember when art galleries were free to enter and people were encouraged to find an appreciation for art. I know I did, spending many hours studying the paintings in several galleries around Yorkshire. York art gallery is ok but not really worth the fee, there are better collections to view for free elsewhere.

It is a great place to spend your afternoon. The gallery is well organised as well as the fountain is lovely outside were you could pay an ice cream and site beside.
